What is it about?
We report a simple one-step maskless fabrication of inverted pyramids on silicon wafers by reactive ion etching. The fabricated surfaces exhibit a distinct milky white colour.

Why is it important?
The fabricated surface structure comprising nano inverted pyramids s also exhibit excellent specular anti-reflective properties: The total reflectance of the fabricated by our method can be as low as only 0.33% with a silicon nitride coating.
Perspectives
We have black-Si AR surfaces that appear mat black, and now we also have milky white Si surfaces.
