What is it about?

Replicative aging arise from asymmetric cell division in yeast that results in various phenotypic variations between mother and daughter cells. This article studies the age relating phenotypic variations and propose a possible mechanism of increased azole tolerance in generationally aged Candida auris cells.

Why is it important?

Candida auris is an emerging multidrug resistant pathogenic fungus known to cause systemic infections. The molecular mechanisms behind its multidrug characteristics are not well studied. This research proposes a molecular mechanism of azole resistance in generationally aging C. auris cells.
