Perspectives

We believe that this report adds significantly to our previous article on the nature and extent of OA in cloned sheep by presenting, for the first time, a comprehensive assessment of OA in the first animals to be cloned by SCNT. We conclude that the prevalence and distribution of OA found in Dolly and her contemporary clones is little different to that observed in naturally conceived sheep. These findings will serve to further allay fears of long-term health implications of reproductive and therapeutic cloning, and stem-cell-based technologies with clinical applications.
