What is it about?

This article argues that psychologists’ professional commitments have expanded to include social justice and political advocacy components; consequently, the applicability of psychologists’ guiding ethical principles must also expand. Using drug prohibition as an example, the boundaries between psychologists’ personal and professional ethics are critically examined. It is concluded that the endorsement of prohibitionist drug policies by psychologists is in direct conflict with the profession’s guiding ethical principles.
