What is it about?

We developed a brief 9-item questionnaire for high school teachers to report on student academic, social, and behavior functioning. We field-tested the School Functioning Scale (SFS) with 400 teachers from across the country who reported on 799 9th through 12th grade students. We then examined the factor structure and reliability of the SFS and also presented normative data. The SFS can be used as part of a larger assessment protocol to collect information about adolescent school performance from teachers' perspective.

Why is it important?

Very few brief questionnaires are available for use by high school teachers as most teacher report measures are focused on younger age groups. The SFS appears useful to address this gap and should be of interest to clinicians who assess and work with high school students.
