What is it about?
PTSD is a global mental health concern, especially in low-resourced countries such as South Africa. We have shown, for the first time in South Africa, that students and community members can be trained to deliver a brief exposure therapy for PTSD in a low-resourced community. This paper also highlights the challenges and opportunities of implementing exposure therapy in a community setting.

Why is it important?
We demonstrate the feasibility of training community members and student counsellors to implement evidence-based exposure therapy for PTSD in a community setting. We also highlight the importance of mental health literacy as a facilitator or barrier to treatment engagement in culturally diverse settings.
