What is it about?

This article reports on a pilot evaluation of a group resilience training program for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Involvement in the READY for MS Program was associated with significant improvements in resilience, quality of life, distress and resilience protective factors such as mindfulness and values-based living. These intervention gains were maintained at a 3-month follow-up. Participants reported high levels of satisfaction with the program.

Why is it important?

This is the first published evaluation of a resilience training program for people with MS and is one of only a few such published programs in the chronic illness field.

Perspectives

I believe that the strong improvements across so many outcomes, including multiple quality of life dimensions, points to the READY for MS Program as holding great promise for future applications and developments.
