Why is it important?

For many persons with Mental Disorders (MD) having a job is a main life goal and a recovery sign. The possibility for these persons to enter the job market is limited by stigma. Our findings show that the participation of people with mental disorders to an ordinary job training course may improve employees' attitudes towards potential workmates with these disorders.

Perspectives

The study shows that providing job training courses to persons with MD could be helpful to reduce stigma against such persons in ordinary work contexts. We hope that this study will be useful to increase the chances of persons with mental disorders being valued in the workplace on the basis of their competence rather than the stigma associated with their health problems.
