What is it about?
Can practicing skills in your lucid dreams help improve waking performance? In this paper we: (1) provided a detailed summary of the existing evidence on the effectiveness of lucid dreaming on waking task performance; (2) discussed the suitability of lucid dreaming environments for practicing waking skills; (3) calculated an overall effect size for lucid dreaming practice; (4) considered challenges with conducting lucid dreaming research and made recommendations for future research.

Why is it important?
Dreaming is a natural phenomenon accessible to all of us. Our findings indicate that practicing skills in a lucid dream can improve subsequent waking performance. Lucid dreaming can thus offer individuals unique opportunities to continue training and practicing skills whilst sleeping and resting.
