What is it about?
Lucid dreaming is a type of dream in which subjects become aware of their oneiric state and may even have the possibility to control the dreaming. As an especial state of consciousness, it has caught the attention of many philosophers, from the pioneer Aristotle to the contemporary Jennifer Windt. Here, we review the Western philosophers who wrote about lucid dreaming from the point of view of history and neuroscience.
