What is it about?
Young children are rapidly learning to regulate their emotions. In this study, we examine one way in which the preschool classroom helps children learn to regulate their emotions: through interacting with teachers and peers. Data collectors followed 767 preschool children to observe their individual interactions with teachers and peers in preschool classrooms.

Why is it important?
Early childhood is a key period for children to develop emotion-related skills. Children are attending and spending time in preschool programs more than ever before. Thus, learning about how preschool classrooms can serve to promote children's emotional development is needed.
