What is it about?
Ethnic identity development in important for minority youth in transition in college. We demonstrated that students of color continue to explore what does their ethnicity mean and feel more committed to their ethnic group in college. In addition, we found the parents' messages on ethnicity still plays an important role in this process.

Why is it important?
Our findings showed the dynamic developmental process of ethnic identity rather than viewing ethnic identity as static. It also challenges the notion the parent might not influence students' identity development in college.
