What is it about?

Unfortunately, the data in the professional literature has repeatedly documented that mental health professionals (MHP) have traditionally underestimated the importance of stressors inherent in their work almost to the point that it is antithetical to what they prescribe to others. This article review some reasons for MHP resistant to self care along with a number proposed solutions.

This article is important, because there is no mention in the professional literature about the specific reasons why certain MHP’s are reluctant to seek assistance for themselves, particularly when they readily acknowledge that they’re shortcomings are problematic.

Perspectives

This topic is extremely important since mental health professionals are only human, and they are as vulnerable as anyone else, including the clients, whom they treat to experiencing a number of mental health problems, such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and even more serious mental health diagnosis.
