What is it about?
Among those with opioid use disorder and chronic pain, a minority of patients continue to have high pain intensity and pain interference during buprenorphine maintenance treatment. Worse depression severity is related to high pain interference. High pain intensity and pain interference are related to worse mental health quality of life.

Why is it important?
Frequent and continual assessment of pain is warranted to better identify treatment responders and non-responders to Buprenorphine maintenance treatment. Additional medication or behavioral treatments targeting pain and mental health may be needed among those who continue to have high pain.
