What is it about?
At this time, LGBTI concerns are represented in professional psychology organizations in all major regions of the world. This article describes the development of sexual orientation and gender identity foci in several countries: Colombia, the Philippines, Russia and South Africa, and compares with the trajectory of European-Western LGBTI concerns.

Why is it important?
Vast differences in the supports for LGBTI concerns exist across the world. This article draws attention to successful integration of LGBTI concerns within psychology in diverse regions of the globe, and provides an overview of the state of LGBTI issues in professional organizations. It discusses the important role of the International Psychology Network for LGBTI Issues (IPsyNet) in supporting the development of LGBTI concerns on a transnational level.
