What is it about?
Gambling disorder is the most common behavioral addiction, robbing many people of their financial and psychological well-being. Addictions such as gambling disorder may be caused, in part, by reduced stress reactivity. Those with such reduced stress reactivity may seek out extra stimulation via gambling or drug taking. In this study we show that among those with problem gambling, lower cortisol is associated with more risky decision making.
