What is it about?

We wondered about whether and how religious people show more negative views on AI. We found that relationship in Chilean and American samples, using different ways to measure religiosity and AI attitudes. Also, we were able to test some potential ways to understand why religious people feel this way. Our study suggests that is not necessarily tied to a conservative view against technology or a religious perspective that sees humanity as a sign of the divine. It is more likely to be related to a view of AI as humans "playing God" by creating these technologies.

Why is it important?

This is relevant since it helps us understand the relationships between everyday people and recent technologies, and how deep religious and moral views might be connected to their disposition to engage with them.
