Why is it important?

Many White American therapists struggle with unconscious racism, despite their good intentions, and this has the potential to harm their African American patients. This article gives examples about how unconscious racism gets expressed, the impact on patients, and how White therapists can try to do better.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also contributed to my own personal development as a psychotherapist and White ally in the anti-racism movement.
