Why is it important?

As systematic reviews distill, scrutinize, and synthesize many years of research findings, they are useful to a wide audience, which means it is critical that they are conducted to a high standard and follow the principles outlined in this paper. In adhering to these principles, systematic reviews can better inform applied practice and enhance their impact.

Perspectives

We feel that this paper is useful at a time when sports practice is becoming increasingly professionalized and reliant on an evidence base. Our article aims to inform the evidence base and its interpretation for practitioners. We hope those reading it find it interesting and useful.
