What is it about?

This project explores the adaptation of Reconnecting to Internal Sensations and Experiences (RISE), a self-guided intervention designed to strengthen interoception (our awareness of internal body sensations) as a protective factor for youth mental health.

Why is it important?

Working alongside high school students and local mental health experts, this paper explores how this approach could be implemented in school-based health centers to support early intervention, emotional regulation, and greater patient autonomy, ultimately improving integration of care and cost-savings for clinics.

Perspectives

I’m grateful to everyone who contributed their insights and energy to this work, and hopeful about the potential for simple, skill-based tools like this to help reach youth who often fall through the gaps in behavioral health care.
