What is it about?

Cues in the workplace can convey that an organization values members of marginalized groups, and these cues can help attract Black women to professional settings. The present studies adopted an intersectional lens and examined how to most effectively signal to Black women that a work environment was inclusive.

Why is it important?

The present investigation is one of few to adopt an intersectional lens and explicitly center Black women. Our findings demonstrated that affirming Black women's racial identity in professional settings is critical to signal to Black women that they will be treated fairly. As such, our work exemplifies the importance of considering how a person's social identities differentially shape psychological processes, and how to most effectively attract Black women professionals - an underutilized source of talent - to organizational spaces.
