What is it about?
During the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people described feelings of anxiety and distress. We have shown that, in Brazil, part of these feelings are explained by sensations of loneliness and the degree of disinformation related to media use. Whether or not loneliness led to distress depends on coping strategies, with individuals trying to not think about what eas happening ("escape/avoidance strategy") suffering the most.
