Although they may be working with young children who have suicidal ideation, play therapists' work and experiences have not been researched. This paper uses a qualitative approach to describe play therapists' experiences with children and families navigating suicidality.

Why is it important?
As mental health professionals, play therapists play an important role in suicide prevention. Findings of this research describe challenges in their work due to the stigma of suicide and training gaps as well as the ways they are resourceful in providing services and collaborating with families.
