What is it about?
This study explored how different aspects of mindfulness relate to mental health across Asian American and European American college students. While some mindfulness traits showed similar patterns in both groups, there were key differences, especially in how Asian Americans experienced certain aspects like observing and nonjudging. Overall, the findings highlight the need to consider cultural diversity in mindfulness research and its applications to better support mental health.

Why is it important?
Our research shows that mindfulness-based programs may focus on certain domains (e.g., acting with awareness and being nonjudgmental) to support well-being in both Asian American and European American communities. Additionally, understanding the unique cultural influences on mindfulness, especially among Asian Americans, is important for creating effective and culturally sensitive interventions.
