What is it about?
Latinx Jews are a dual minority group, both in Latin America and the United States, that often get overlooked. Latinx Jewish experiences differ from that of American Jews and that of Latinx Americans in a range of areas, including the manifestation of gender roles and identity.

Why is it important?
Both Latinx's and Jews are both diverse groups, but their diversity is often overlooked and they are grouped under one lens. Additionally, Latinx individuals, more often than not, are presumed to be Catholic, due to the rich history of Catholicism in Latin America. Understanding the unique ways in which Latinx Jews navigate and negotiate their gender roles through their unique dual-minority identity, helps understand the importance of diversity and individual experiences.
Perspectives
I hope this article opens up conversations and leads to understanding about the great diversity that exists within the Jewish people and among Latinx peoples. This article also touches on how immigration narratives and experiences with antisemitism impact the identity and socialization of gender roles. This article helps to better understand the importance on multicultural competencies and challenges clinicians and researchers to examine their biases toward minoritized groups.
