What is it about?

The alliance highlights collaborative qualities in the psychological treatments. The aim of a "Viewpoint" paper is to provide thought-provoking notes on the current state of research, innovations, weaknesses in the field and current debates. This paper is limited to three aspects, namely, (1) systematic reporting generates core knowledge, (2) assessment of the alliance selfreports outside of a therapy room and (3) unterstanding the patient concept of the alliance

Why is it important?

Collaborative qualities are critical ethical and empirical considerations.

Perspectives

The implementation of a (post) modern, people-centered understanding of health is progressing rapidly in research, teaching and practice. The alliance developed for psychotherapy, which focuses on collaborative qualities, is now being used as a process characteristic in a variety of settings in biopsychosocial healthcare systems.
