What is it about?
It is shown that the friction velocity and sensible heat flux can be estimated bypassing parameters that depend on the canopy architecture. This is a great advantage. Moreover, the measurements required are affordable and can be taken close or well above the canopy.

Why is it important?
Friction velocity is important to estimate dust emission and erosion. Sensible heat flux is important to estimate latent heat flux. The methodology can be useful for land-surface modelling.
