What is it about?

In this study, we present the results of a validation of a psychological contract questionnaire. Data were collected in Switzerland from employees of two firms and portfolio workers. The instrument consists of three factors measuring employee expectations and employer inducements as well as two factors measuring employer expectations and employee contributions. The factors differentiate between groups with different employment status and predict intention to quit and performance.

Why is it important?

This questionnaire measures psychological contracts in a reliable and valid way. It distinguishes different factors of content and thus allows researchers to capture different aspects of psychological contracts. It was developed in a European employment context.

Perspectives

I hope this questionnaire contributes to measuring and understanding different facets of psychological contracts in Europe.
