What is it about?
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) has a prominent role in the occurrence and progression of various cancers. Recently, there is an expressed focus on the development of new COX-2-selective inhibitors as potential cytostatic agents. The highly stable phenyl mimetic carborane was implemented in the structure of mefenamic acid. COX inhibitory activity and cytotoxicity for different cancer cell lines revealed that the carborane analogues have stronger anti-tumor potential compared to their parent organic compound.
