What is it about?

We fabricated a microcavity based on porous silicon to provide optical feedback and lasing. We firstly fabricated the structure via simple electrochemical etching of a silicon wafer. Then we exploited the intrinsic porosity of the structure to infiltrate a well-known polyfluorene emitter that exhibits optical gain. The resulting device supports single mode lasing with a relatively low-threshold.
