What is it about?
Ozone pollution causes health problems, in some cases leading to death. Similarly, extreme temperatures can also lead to death. But what are the effects of temperature on ozone-related deaths? A study tried to find out. The authors collected data on temperatures and ozone related deaths from 2013 to 2018 from 128 different counties across China. The authors then used this information to see how different temperatures affect ozone-related deaths. They learned that high temperatures can increase the health impacts of ozone and cause more deaths even for very small increases of ozone. They also saw that these effects were stronger for people over 65 years old. These effects were seen across all the different counties.

Why is it important?
Ozone is a serious pollutant in many countries. Temperatures all over the world are expected to increase due to climate change. This makes it important to understand how temperature changes will affect pollution-related health problems. This is essential so that we can learn how to protect ourselves from the effects of climate change and pollution. Doing that will not just help us personally, but also help our governments and health care systems work better. KEY TAKEAWAY: Rising temperatures make the health impacts of ozone even worse. We need to find ways to decrease ozone pollution to help our health. We also need to find ways to reduce the impact of global warming.
