What is it about?

Some philosophers like Thomas Pogge have compared global poverty with the Holocaust. This seems rhetorical, but this article argues that global poverty is directly compared with crimes against humanity due to their shared structure. It is specifically comparable to apartheid and slavery.

Why is it important?

This article argues that global poverty is not only a tragedy or an injustice, but it is an extremely severe injustice. This makes arguments for resistance more plausible.

Perspectives

I wrote this article because the Holocaust comparison that is often bandied around struck me as more than rhetoric. This article breaks down this claim by examining international law and argues that it is indeed like a crime against humanity.
