Why is it important?

Considering increasing HAV naive population in Kerala, there is a need to study the cost-effectiveness of hepatitis A vaccines.

Perspectives

Reporting of hepatitis A outbreak with majority population is adults, it shows that this population was not exposed in childhood. The epidemiological transition of hepatitis A is being reported consistently in India and now in Kerala suggesting to think for hepatitis A vaccination for the population. However, for decision making by policymakers, there is a need to generate evidence of the cost-effectiveness of hepatitis A vaccines. Such studies are needed in the population.
