For a particular reason, there is not that much that can be said in reviewing this edition of this new text. For those that have brought this text but also posses the original 2001 first edition, they may feel somewhat ‘cheated’ if they did not read the preface or the back cover to this second edition before making that purchase. The vast majority of this book (in fact ten out of its 11chapters) is essentially a direct lift from the original. Only the final chapter entitled The Saga Continues: The District Health Board System and Beyond, is an actual update from the 2001position to today. This final chapter, while of interest, is quite brief and superficial of the substantial changes that healthcare has undergone over recent years in New Zealand – since the first edition of this book.
