What is it about?
Our relationship with nature is often far from peaceful, with harm and fatalities on both sides. A review of articles published in Oryx during 1950-2016 on this so-called conflict between people and wild animals reveals that the term human-animal conflict, and similar phrases, describes a wide range of interaction types. The phrases used are often misleading, and the role of conservation in these interactions needs to be recognized. New ways of thinking about these interactions could help to save lives, of both people and of wild species.
