What is it about?

Structural properties of carbon materials synthesized from fluorinated naphalene pitch by means of electrochemical reduction were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) et al. A change in the structure of the synthesized carbons with an electron beam irradiation was aiso examined. A lot of ribbon-like graphite nanocrystals was formed by irradiation of the electron beam at high temperatures.

Why is it important?

A carbon material having graphitic nano-crystals is able to be synthesized from fluorinated naphthalene pitch.

Perspectives

Ribbon-shaped graphitic nano-crystals were obtained from the carbon material by an irradiation of electron beam at high temperatures.
