What is it about?
Wood is a resource that is found almost everywhere. It has a high energy content, but because of its rigid structure, it is not so easy to breakdown for producing biofuels. It becomes much easier to break down wood Using ultrasound and hydrogen peroxide (from Fenton-like reactions). This means it can be easily used to produce methane gas.

Why is it important?
This is important because it as a society we wish to move away from fossil fuels, so we need viable alternatives. It is also important for pre-existing biogas plants as it provides a way to increase biogas production without increasing the size of the plant. Finally, this allows and promotes the use of wood wastes from industries like pulp and paper, and construction.
