What is it about?
We studied the synthesis of aromatic azides in ionic liquids, with a task specific ionic liquid bearing the azide anion, under sonochemical conditions. We considered a wide range of substrates and ionic liquids.

Why is it important?
In general, sonochemical reactions proved faster, and provided higher yields than those under silent conditions. Elucidating which factors enhance the efficiency of ultrasounds, we found that an important and favourable role is played by the degree of structural order of the ionic liquids.
