Using an advanced imaging technique, we found ovarian cancer stem cells have higher level of unsaturated lipids. Blocking the production of unsaturated lipids can effectively eradicate cancer stem cells.

Why is it important?
Cancer stem cells are a small population of cancer cells that are responsible for tumor relapse after chemotherapy and metastasis. Targeting the cancer stem cells holds the promise to achieve a complete remission of tumors after treatment, preventing relapse and metastasis.
