What is it about?
Business model innovation is gaining a lot of attention, when it comes to how businesses adapt to circularity needs. Electronics manufacturers are deeply troubled with a noticeably rise in hazardous e-waste, therefore new and innovative ideas for circular economy business models have mushroomed overnight. Based on a review of evidence of business model innovation in two developed Asian countries known for their electrical and electronic sector, this study proposes the creation of value through innovative design options to address the circular economy.

Why is it important?
The findings of this study are important not only for scholars but also for practitioners working in the electrical and electronic sector. The two morphological boxes containing business model dimensions have been created to encompass the ‘totality of circular economy design options’. These options, we found, can be mixed and matched to create new business solutions in support of circular economy to reduce e-waste.
