What is it about?
Bacteria can be used as a biological sensor and detect toxins in water. We developed a model based on reactions equations. These equations explain the reactions that happen when a toxin interacts with the bacterial sensor. For example, we used Michaelis-Menten equation to describe the enzymatic reaction that generates molecules in the presence of toxins. When a detector senses these molecules it generates an electronic signal that provide indication for the presence of toxins.

Why is it important?
Our model provide an mathematical explanation for the bio-electrochemical response of the bacteria to the presence of toxins. Thus, this analytical model can be used to explain other bio-electrochemical systems.
