What is it about?
Copper is largely utilized in agriculture for the inhibition of fungal phytopathogens. However, as a non degradable metal, copper tends to accumulate in soils. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of copper sulphate on the beneficial traits of Papiliotrema laurentii yeasts, which colonize the root surphase of tomato plants.

Why is it important?
Copper containig fungicides are considered of low environmental impact. Our results show that this metal can also potentially alter the expression of beneficial traits of plant growth-promoting microorganisms.
