What is it about?
In opposite to well controlled lab conditions, in nature microorganisms lives in complex structures with mixed populations called biofilms. Immersed in these biofilms, microorganisms interact among each others. Different models have been developped for the study of biofilms. In this paper, we show the utilization of a yeast (Meyerozyma guilliermondii) and a bacterium (Agrobacterium tumefaciens) for the stablishment of biofilms on solid surfaces (colony biofilms).

Why is it important?
Our results show the feasibility of colony biofilm and fluorescence microscopy to evidenciate putative interactions between yeasts and bacteria.
