What is it about?

This article is about synthesis of metal-containing therapeutics that could serve as effective therapeutic agents. The newly synthesized metal complexes are more effective than theophylline that they are synthesized from and which is always consumed daily in food and beverages. The complexes are also more effective than some clinically used anticancer drugs.

Why is it important?

This research output is a contribution to search for novel, potent and cost-effective anticancer drugs. It will help in reducing the economic burden of cancer and other non-communicable diseases.

Perspectives

My contribution to this article is the conception and design of the experiment for which I obtained funding from UNESCO/IUPAC/PhosAgro research grant in Green Chemistry. I carried out the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of the complexes and physico-chemical evaluation of the compounds.
