What is it about?

The world hearing forum is advocating for children’s health services to prioritise hearing services. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that at least 34 million children globally live with disabling hearing loss. Hearing loss, when unaddressed, deprives many children of their right to education and has profound longer-term effects on employment and productivity.

Why is it important?

Healthcare professionals working with children and young people have an important role to play in detecting, investigating and treating the causes of hearing loss. They can also play a vital role in preventing acquired deafness by educating families about the impact of prolonged exposure to loud noises.
