What is it about?
The restricted problem of three bodies with a continuation fraction potential is numerically investigated. By adopting the grid classification method we locate the coordinates, on the XY plane, of all the points of equilibrium,. The stability of the libration points is computed. The shape as well as the properties of the Newton–Raphson basins of convergence, associated with the equilibria of the system, are also explored for obtaining the optimal starting conditions of the iterator.

Why is it important?
Our analysis reveals that the new potential has additional points of equilibrium, with respect to the classical 3-body problem.
