What is it about?
In this work, a 5,7-diphenyl substituted 8-hydroxyquinoline ligand was synthesized and the corresponding complexes of this ligand with the metal ions of aluminum, gallium, and indium were prepared and their structures were verified using various analytical techniques. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these compounds have been studied in solution and in the solid state.

Why is it important?
The development of stable materials for optoelectronic applications is the central focus of scientific research. tris(8-quinolinolato) aluminum is finding applications as an organic light-emitting diode material in flat screens, cell phones, cameras, etc. The quest for highly stable and efficient material is far from over. Here we are introducing a new material to compete with the current ones available in the market.
