What is it about?
The fission yeast FANCM-ortholog Fml1 has two roles in homologous recombination – it promotes gene conversion at stalled replication forks and limits crossing over during mitotic double-stranded DNA break repair. In vitro Fml1 catalyzes replication fork reversal and D-loop disruption, indicating potential mechanisms by which it fulfills pro- and antirecombinogenic roles.
