What is it about?

The article presents a vibration control method of a circular plate based on a controller with phase shift ad- justment in the feedback loop (PSAF). The proposed controller combines the structures of the positive position feedback and strain rate feedback controllers, which are often used in vibration reduction systems. Additionally, the PSAF controller allows the adjustment of the phase shift of the controller to the object changes by tuning its parameters.

Why is it important?

The need to reduce vibration is a frequent problem encountered in mechanical and electromechanical devices having applications in aerospace, robotics, and industrial processes. This article presents the concept, results of simulation tests, and implementation for the PSAF controller. Finally, the obtained results confirm the possibility of using the proposed solution to reduce the vibration of plates, indicating significant suppression of the targeted modes.

Perspectives

The proposed solution combined the features of the controller, the anti-disturbance filter, and the filter dedicated for moving the phase that provided a stable control system. Individual components of the PSAF controller exhibited the form of a second-order transmittance, and could be implemented in a simple manner in microprocessor systems, and even in analog systems (owing to the low regulator’s order). In spite of the simple structure, the methodology described can be easily extended to more complex vi- bration systems.
