What is it about?
PbO–Sb2O3–As2O3 glass containing different concentrations of WO3 ranging from 0 to 2 mol% were prepared. A number of studies, viz. differential thermal analysis (DTA), magnetic susceptibility, infrared spectra, optical absorption and ESR spectra have been carried out. The results of DTA indicated the highest glass forming ability for the glass containing 0.6 mol% of WO3. The results of spectroscopic and magnetic studies have been analyzed in the light of different oxidation states of tungsten ions.

Why is it important?
The objective of the present study is to have a comprehensive understanding over the influence of tungsten ions on structural aspects of PbO–Sb2O3–As2O3 glasses by investigating optical absorption, ESR and IR spectral properties.
